Detailed description of the Invention
A system and method to utilize the time during which a data- transfer takes place between a mobile communication device (receiving device) and the other communication device (the sender) are provided.
In the following description for purposes of explanation, specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the present invention. It will be evident, however, to one skilled in the art that the present
invention may be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well known methods, procedures, components and circuits have not been described in detail so as not to obscure the present invention.
The present invention now will be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, which form a part hereof, and which show, by way of illustration, specific exemplary preferred embodiments by which the invention may be practiced. This invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete, and will fully convey the scope of the invention to those skilled in the art. The following detailed description is, therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense.
FIG. 1 illustrates a schematic diagram of a system for displaying content while data/information being transferred wirelessly to a mobile communication device wherein the system comprises a telecommunication network 106 having interactive means coupled with short range wireless network 102 and world wide web 105, a mobile communication device 104 having interactive means in a short range wireless zone, a telecom service provider server 107 capable to send receive data/information, a smart - IB 101 box capable of sending and receiving data/information, a central server 108 capable of interpreting received messages from Smart - IB 101 and user's mobile communication device 104.
The user' s request depending on the data/information sought may further be sent to third party servers 109 through the central server. The central server retrieves the information
so desired from such third party server. The central server schedules the data/information according to the preferred mode of request. It then packages the information in a presentable format and transmits the said information to the mobile device.
The smart IB 101 also has a location ID, and other geographic information. The smart-IB enables the system network to detect the exact and accurate location of the user's mobile device. It also enables the area to support short range wireless such as Bluetooth and the like. The enabling means for the application to interact with the system is also stored in the IB box which may be installed into the user's device on request. To connect with smart-IB box the handheld communication device may use short range wireless communication such as Bluetooth, wireless communication such as WLAN or WIFI and/or the like.
FIG. 2 depicts a block diagram of the method for displaying content while data/information being transferred wirelessly to a mobile communication device wherein the method comprised the steps of receiving a request 201 from the user's device for certain information, forwarding 202 said request to smart-IB coupled with the central server, forwarding 206 the said request having user's profile along with IB profile to said central server, retrieving and analyzing 203 the user profile and IB profile, interpreting the request and retrieving the requested data/information, accessing and interacting with third party 207 system servers to retrieve' relevant data/information, retrieving and transmitting 204 the data/information 208 received from third party server to mobile communication device during the download of requested data/information, indicating the details of completion 209 of download of requested
data/information, displaying 210 the downloaded data/information on the mobile communication device
The request for such information is transmitted to the central server. Along with such information the location ID of the IB box is also transmitted. This helps in determining the exact location of the user, since short range wireless network such as Bluetooth and the like is active only in limited area, the accuracy level increases with the transmittal of location specific details of smart-IB. The interactive system allows the user to interact with different functions displayed on the user's mobile communication device.
FIG. 3 illustrates a mobile communication device with interactive means having the content display 301 on the screen.
FIG. 4 illustrates the hardware elements ' of the central server employed wherein said central server includes receiving means 401 to receive requests, interpreting means 402 to interpret the request, storage means 403 to store data/information, profiling and/or analyzing means 404 for the data/information, third party system connecting means 405 for interaction and retrieval of data/information, updating means 406 to update the data/information, transmitting means 407 to transmit data/information.
The transmission of data/information may be done using short range wireless medium such as Bluetooth and/or the like, which may also include the World Wide Web media or the telecommunication network.
The user may then optionally send his/her preferences or rate the ■ data/information so received. Based on the feedback of the user, the system is updated with improved data/information and whenever the user subsequently requests for information, the system utilises the stored feedback and sends preferred/more useful information.
The information so send to the user comprises the advertisement content.
In a preferred mode, such transmission of request preferably may also be made through Bluetooth, GPRS, short messaging services (SMS) request or the like.
The instant invention facilitate gathering and employing the data/information related to logging history of users, profiling the users, and noting the browsing pattern, when the user requests for a download. It usually takes times, based on the browsing pattern of a default setting the user gets to see a particular piece of information (advertisement) on his screen. This is especially in case when the download is taking place on a mobile communication device. More particularly, the present invention facilitate the content display while the download of any requested data/information is taking place via a short range wireless communication method like Bluetooth as well as in case of method of communication like GPRS.
In a preferred embodiment the user uses the mobile communication device and requests for certain data/information. Users request is transmitted to the server for further processing. After the request being processed the requested data is fetched from the central server. The data/information so fetched then transmitted to the mobile communication device. While the transmission and download
process of the data/information in process user keeps on gazing the screen to check if the requested data/information has been received.
The data packet being large in size may take some time to complete download. The server accesses the IB profile for location of the user's mobile communication device. Server also accesses the user profile for past history and preferences. Server accesses the third party advertising server and matches best combination available. If match is found, server along with the transmission of fetched data transmits small packets of advertisement information onto the mobile device of the user. Such information is visible to the user when data sought is being downloaded.
Since the user is watching the display screen of the mobile device for progress, the probability of user watching the advertisement increases considerably. The system while displaying the advertisement content on the mobile communication device promptly updates the user about the completion of the downloaded data/information previously requested by the user.
