Abstract

The freight information and management system described in the present invention relates to the technical field of the logistics of transportation of cargo in general, more specifically to a freight information and management system. The invention is designed as a tool for searching and managing various freight transportation modalities for various regions. The system comprises a central unit (server) that contains all data and information that concerns available freights and is accessible by means of a mobile telecommunications device (GPRS or the like), or of fixed devices, such as desktop PCs. Besides indicating what are the freights available, the system manages the intermodal freight transportation possibilities that are feasible for both the charterer and the transporter.
