In a recent video released by Disney, Parade Designer Richard Improta and Tony Award-winning production designer Michael Curry discussed their collaboration when creating the show-stopping, fire-breathing, Maleficent Dragon.
"We really wanted to create a big 'wow,'" Improta said. "I've always been intrigued at the idea of creating the Maleficent dragon because 'Sleeping Beauty' is my absolute favorite classic Disney film."

The Maleficent dragon stretches 52 feet in length and 25 feet in height when it's head is up, which is also when it breathes fire.
"We don't think of her (Maleficent) as a great float," Curry said, "We think of her as a creature."
