Executive Committee (XCOM)

This committee represents the membership outside of general and board of director meetings on issues requiring an urgent response.

  • Committee membership will consist of the President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and Immediate Past-President.
  • Decisions made by the XCOM will be ratified by the BOD at the following full board meeting.
  • Only necessary for urgent organizational decisions.
  • This committee will be led by the current BREI president.

Education, Training, and Curriculum Committee (EduCom)

This committee is tasked with identifying continuing educational topics needed for members and cultivating new and innovative courses for BRE growth and understanding. 

  • Identifies continuing education topics (and instructors) of interest to BREI members.
  • Identifies topics and speakers for webinars.
  • Monitors certification and education opportunities issues.
  • Provides recommendations regarding the BREI Fundamentals Course.
  • This committee also certifies continuing education and certification awards. 
  • Works with the MarCom committee, conduct outreach to state/ province wide economic development associations/organizations, regional associations, and national associations offering opportunities to partner and present the BREI Fundamentals Course.
  • Identifies BREI tools and resources from both members and non-members and posts these resources in the members-only portal as a resource for all BREI members.
  • Delivers course (and training) syllabus and dates to Executive Director and MarCom quarterly, or as available.
  • Reports progress and challenges to the BOD at quarterly meetings.
  • And other tasks and/or responsibilities as assigned by the BOD.

Marketing, Communications, and Membership Committee (MarCom)

The mission of this committee is to engage and involve current members while striving to identify and attract new members. 

  • Develops and implements an annual communications and marketing plan.
  • Develops and implements an annual membership retention plan.
  • Develops and implements an annual membership growth plan.
  • Supports and amplifies the work of the BREI Ambassadors.
  • Reports progress and challenges to the BOD at quarterly meetings.
  • And other tasks and/or responsibilities as assigned by the BOD.

Governance Committee (GovCom)

This committee is tasked with reviewing bylaws and policies and procedures for the organization as well as any other items needed for internal governance and oversight.

  • Committee membership will consist of the Board President, Immediate Past-President, President-Elect, one (1) At-Large Board Member, and one (1) Non-Board Member.
  • The committee is required to meet a minimum of once per calendar year.
  • This committee will provide an annual report to the BOD summarizing any required governance updates and necessary changes.

Strategic Initiatives Committee (StratCom)

This committee reviews the BREI strategic plan and current initiatives to ensure organizational growth and objective attainment.

  • The President-Elect serves as Chair of this committee.  All other Members are appointed by the Board President. 
  • This committee provides a quarterly report to the BOD on the status of meeting all objectives outlined in the strategic plan and current initiatives.
  • This committee determines the timing and process for renewing the BREI Strategic Plan.
  • Reports progress and challenges to the BOD at quarterly meetings.
  • And other tasks and/or responsibilities as assigned by the BOD.

Annual Conference & Awards

Responsible for leading all aspects of the annual conference.

  • Date and host location selection
  • Logistics, venue and catering
  • Theme, content, and speakers
  • Award category and requirements
  • Setting submission dates
  • Reviewing applications/nominations and selecting winners
  • Arranging for plaques with Executive Director
