Make’s description

This design is hands down the best! The elegant simplicity of it, how it fits together without screws, the part count and the price, THE TOLERANCES, it's so clean and compact, it makes it by far the best DIY hidden blade stl I've ever seen online (Trust me, I've searched for years for a design that doesn't jam or explode).
I put this together extremely quickly, which is a testament to the skill of the designer. I am in awe. I modified the cover slightly and applied some paint to suit my own aesthetics.

Negatives/ Improvements:

  • Biggest weakness is the coil spring (Drive Pulley). I printed it in PETG as instructed and in my experience, PLA springs don't hold their shape for long. It was too tight on the post so I had to slightly enlarge the hole to get it to turn smoothly. Getting it to spin while springing back with enough force reliably was my main problem. If this part of the mechanism was reinforced it would greatly improve the longevity of the prop. This was more of a small hiccup than a flaw though, and better than using rubber bands that eventually snap.

  • Last were the presupported files, I found generated supports yielded better results every time.

  • Due to the gear ratio design, activation energy required is a bit high to move the blade the entire length.

  • In the future I'd love to see attempts to make the blade longer and different styling options.

Not much to improve on! Thank you for sharing and you've earned my lifelong respect Sonndersmith.
