It’s already been five years since the release of MGMT’s last studio album, and they’re finally ready to share some new music with the world. The indie rock duo is gearing up for the release of their next album Loss of Life and they gave us a taste of things to come with a new single “Mother Nature”.

MGMT founders Andrew VanWyngarden and Benjamin Goldwasser said they’re over the mood about this collection of songs and feel very happy to unleash it onto the world.

“It is an album that brandishes the power of love in the face of inevitable human death and decay, and hopes to encourage collective comfort in remembering the universe’s inextinguishable yet often brutal desire to find balance and harmony. Or something,” reads the band’s official statement.

MGMT gave us a taste of things to come with the first single “Mother Nature” and said this song outlines the archetypical MGMT mythology of one hero attempting to get the other hero to come on the journey that they ‘must’ go on.

“Mother Nature” will be one of ten songs featured on the band’s next album, including “Dancing in Babylon” ft. Christine and the Queens. Loss of Life will be released on February 23, 2024, through MGMT’s new label Mom + Pop.
