John Hennigan, also known by his ring names Johnny Nitro and John Morrison, was born on October 3rd, 1979 in Los Angeles, California. Hennigan began his professional wrestling career by training at the Supreme Pro Wrestling School, eventually landing a spot on the cast of the WWE reality show Tough Enough. Along with Matt Cappotelli, Hennigan won the competition and was rewarded with a WWE developmental contract. After training in the Ohio Valley Wrestling organization, the WWE’s developmental league, Morrison made his WWE debut in 2004, teaming up with Cappotelli in a losing effort against Garrison Cade and Mark Jindrak. Shortly after his debut, Hennigan adopted the name Johnny Nitro and became Eric Bischoff’s apprentice a job title he lost when Eugene defeated him in a stipulation match.

Morrison returned to Ohio Valley Wrestling for a brief stint following his loss to Eugene, and it was there that he developed a team with Melina and Joey Mercury, a stable that would come to be known as MNM. The team made their WWE debut in 2005 on the Smackdown brand and went on to win the Smackdown WWE Tag Team Titles on three separate occasions in their first year. In 2006, Nitro and Melina made the jump to WWE’s Raw brand, eventually winning the Intercontinental Championship from Shelton Benjamin in a Triple Threat Match that also involved Carlito. 2007 saw Nirto adopt the moniker John Morrison, a play on his resemblance to Doors lead singer Jim Morrison, and join WWE’s ECW brand. There, Morrison defeated CM Punk to win the ECW Championship, a title he’d eventually lose back to CM Punk in a Triple Threat Match at Survivor Series.
