Very nice airport that is much closer to Taipei city. Although it doesn't have a lot, it is perfect airport for those travelers whom dislike long commuting to Taipei from Taoyuan International airport.

The best part is its close proximity to the Downtown Taipei. With MRT station outside the airport entrance/exit, travelers with smaller luggage can easily ride the MRT to anywhere in Taipei within minutes.

I love this airport. They have really good food and drinks to eat. They have a lot of stores you can go shopping at. If you have a long layover, you can also take a tour. The only thing I didn't like about this place was that I sweated a lot here for whatever reason lol

Love this airport. One of my favorite places in this airport is their food selections. they have an extensive selection of restaurants for nice authentic Taiwanese dishes before leaving Taiwan.
I love their Beef Noodle shop. It's awesome in flavor.
I also love shopping at their many Duty Free shops. You can find all sorts of gifts for people back home.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ricky R.San Francisco, CA380397Mar 3, 2023
Flew into this airport from Haneda, Japan on EVA Airlines. It is Taipei's second largest airport which gets a majority of their flights from Asia. It is a nice airport, smaller than Taoyun AIrport but I think it is a nicer, cleaner, newer looking airport. Nice restaurants and shops, very Taiwanese feeling here.

This airport is mostly for flying within Taiwan, but there are a few flights to Japan. The planes are smaller here, seats lesser people. Therefore, the flight may feel more bumpy based on experience. TSA check in was a breeze, but I also only had carry-on items.
I liked how there were Badtz Maru (Sanrio) billboards inside the airport via Uni Air, the sister airline of EVA.
Waiting area is fairly small, but I like how this airport moves people in and out quickly. There's a convenient water station near the restroom to refill re-usable water bottles. Food options extremely limited, think I saw 1 coffee/food shop. Despite that, I had a good experience here.Helpful 13Thanks 0Love this 19Oh no 0 - Dec 1, 2018
Airports are typically a stressful place for travelers but not this one!
From the moment you walk in, you smell Taiwanese pastries and snacks. It actually reminds me more of an intimate mall that happens to offer an airport instead of the other way around.
The TSA was super friendly. I had some trouble locating my ticket at the gate and ended up having only 5mins to get through security so they kindly escorted me and didn't make me feel stressed.
I actually kind of wished I had more time to spend at this airport. Please bring more flights here~Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - 189829318625May 23, 2018
I have to say even though this airport is not the main airport for Taiwan I still feel like I like this one better. Less crowded and the lines for the security check point is super fast.
As what people has said this airport won't have that many international flights but I actually went to another country from this airport. I was going to China Shanghai to their Pudong airport. I'm not sure why I flew at this airport but I was flying through EVA but the name is UNI which probably is their company or sister company.
They still allowed the same weight and two check in bags so I wasn't over at all when coming here. Also this airport is super clean and the bathrooms were pretty much sparkling. I did look at their nursery section of the bathroom and it's super private and cute for moms and babies! I'm glad they thought of that.
Overall I wouldn't mind flying to this airport again! It's close to the city in Taipei and it's not hard to get to this airport even by subway.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Feb 12, 2016
Taipei Songshan Airport is a very conveniently-located airport. It doesn't have that wide array of international destinations, but it is much closer to the city center than Taipei's main international airport.
The airport itself is not very large at all. It's mostly Taiwanese carriers flying to Taiwan mainland cities and some of the outer Taiwan islands.
Because the planes that land here aren't very large, the terminal and gate area is not very crowded. Not very many services here for passengers - there is a 7-Eleven outside security, but once you get inside of security, there is an much at all. Maybe just a few ATMs.
Overall, the convenience factor of this airport is high, but there isn't much at this airport for passengers.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Charles Ryan T.Singapore, Singapore4123422080Mar 29, 2015
Taipei Songshan Airport is one of my favourite airports for joyrides! The last time I went there, I flew on carriers such as FAT (Far Eastern Air Transport), UNI Air and Mandarin Airlines for the aircraft types and its photography friendly at both the observation deck and the airside.
For aviation enthusiast, I highly recommend you to come here for photography and also enjoy rides on a couple of rare aircraft, the MD-82 and MD-83 which FAT, the only Asian airline operating on a regular basis.
The airport is conveniently located in the heart of Taipei, and its easy to get there! Just take the Wenhu line (Light Railway) from ZhongXiao FuXin station (changed from Bannan line) if you are staying in other parts of the city and take it to Songshan Airport Station and about 5 minutes, you are at the check-in counter, that's how convenient it is. Buses and taxies are available too.
This airport may be smaller than Taoyuan but it has both domestic and international terminals, so make sure you go to the right one. In fact, check your ticket to make sure you go to the right airport. I have friends who went to the wrong airport before and they had to rush to the other and nearly missed their flights!
At this airport, there are a few restaurants at the landside and I prefer to grab my meal there before heading to the airside. There is also a plane model shop that sells stuff that aviation enthusiasts look for, so its actually a very aviation-friendly airport. There are even signs board at the observation board sharing information about the airlines and aircraft types that fly there.
Overall, I enjoy using this airport and I will definitely head back for more joyrides, that's my favourite past time!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - D'Arcy L.Terrebonne, Canada36914736644May 8, 2016
Great airport to fly into Taipei as its so closer to the city center. It was mentioned on landing to please not take photography so I abided by the rules. Having someone get mad upon entering a foreign country or disrespecting rules in Asia can come with stiff penalty. So I don't joke around when a word of caution is provided. This airport was a military base. There were some interesting military looking planes upon arrival. You really get the feel for how tropical lush and green Taiwan is when you land. Interesting mountains and some dirty old buildings. Not a lot of International airplane traffic. The main International airlines seen were:
JAL, Eva, China Airways and ANA.
I did see observe some other interesting planes FAT- Far Eastern airlines, Sichuan, Mandarin and Trans Asia.
The airport is smaller but I love flying into smaller airports as your timeframe from jetway to curbside is not like walking on a kilamanjaro expedition. It's connected to the subway lines so convenient access to downtown Taipei is roughly 20 min away!Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0
