SAN ANTONIO – Three people were rescued after their vehicles were submerged in the swift water.

The Kirby Fire Department was dispatched to the 5400 block of Gibbs Sprawl Road at around 3 a.m.

Upon arrival, they found two vehicles submerged in Swiftwater.

According to the commander at the scene, there was a man and a woman in one of the vehicles and a single woman in the other. A firefighter was able to get in the water with a rope and swam to the woman to pull her out. The man was able to swim out of the water with some assistance. The other woman was able to walk out because she didn’t drive as deep as the other woman.

The commander said that they are “lucky to be alive.”

No injuries were reported.

This is an ongoing investigation.
