Bartmann Group Takes the Reigns at Nighthawks

It’s been almost a year since the original chef and owner of Nighthawks stepped away from the Minneapolis restaurant industry and now a familiar name is stepping into a leadership role at Nighthawks. Kim Bartmann’s restaurant group announced today that it will take over managing the diner on Nicollet Avenue in the Kingfield neighborhood.

Bartmann operates Bryant Lake Bowl, Bread & Pickle at Lake Harriet, Cafe Barbette, Gigi’s, Pat’s Tap, Red Stag, The Bird, Tiny Diner and the forthcoming Book Club in the old Cafe Maude space. In a statement Bartmann said, “With Landon’s blessing, we’ve taken on the management of Nighthawks. Our intention is, as always, to bring quality food to the neighborhood. We’ll be getting pop-ups and events back into the Birdie space, and continuing with a kick-ass brunch.”

Nighthawks first opened in May of 2015 under the leadership of chef Landon Schoenefeld. Schoenefeld left the restaurant and the state at the end of 2016. In that time Nighthawks soldiered on, but the fine dining and frequent pop-up space next door, Birdie closed earlier this year.

Immediate changes will include a menu “refresh” and the return of Nighthawks lunch service.
