Ilja Dragunov Names Dream Main Roster First-Time Opponents

Ilja Dragunov has quickly become one of the top stars on the NXT brand, with him set to challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship at NXT No Mercy this Sunday.

Beyond NXT however, there are many stars on the WWE main roster that would be exciting opponents for Dragunov when the time arrives for him to be called up to the main roster.

Ilja himself recently said that it would be ‘destiny’ for he and GUNTHER to one day face off against each other at WrestleMania, but what about other names he has yet to step into the ring with.

Speaking on Under The Ring, Dragunov was asked what names on the WWE main roster he would like to face off with that he has yet to step in the ring with.

Dragunov named Shinsuke Nakamura, Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio among those he’d want to face.

He said:

“There are countless people (in WWE who I’d want to wrestle that I haven’t yet). This company is filled with an unlimited amount of great talent. So, there’s so many people I think I could create something special with.

“First person, one of the people that come to my mind is definitely Shinsuke Nakamura, people like Seth Rollins who also has all this artistic way with the people and you see how over he is and the attention he gets, and definitely, I mean as long as the chance is still there, maybe with one of the people who were the first I’ve been watching like Rey Mysterio for example.”

Despite this, Dragunov himself has said that he is ‘not in a rush’ to receive his main roster call up.

Dragunov and Hayes will have a contract signing for their NXT Championship match on tomorrow night’s episode of NXT.
