Blake Lively Wore a Wedding Dress While Filming Her New Movie in Italy

Blake Lively may have tied the knot with Ryan Reynolds in 2012, but more than a decade later, the Gossip Girl alum has found herself in another wedding dress. But this time, it’s for a movie. While shooting the sequel to the 2018 crime-comedy-thriller A Simple Favor in Capri, Italy, Lively was seen wearing a bridal getup and standing in front of the altar, giving viewers a first look at the new movie’s upcoming wedding scene. 

On April 4, 2024, The Daily Mail published photographs of the actress, who plays Emily Nelson in the film, and according to the images, her character’s gown features a strapless corset top, a billowing skirt, arm-length gloves, and a long veil. The images also reveal the set, where Nelson’s wedding will take place: an elaborate floral-covered arch set against an ocean backdrop. Her co-star, Michele Morrone, who is seemingly joining the cast for the sequel, is also spotted standing at the altar in a black tuxedo. 

Anna Kendrick, who will be reprising her role as Stephanie Smothers, was also seen in one of the photos, holding Nelson’s wedding veil. The photograph shows Smothers wearing a strapless floral-printed tea-length dress with an A-line pleated skirt. It appears that Smothers is one of Nelson’s bridesmaids in the wedding. 

According to a press release, the plot of A Simple Favor 2 will focus on Nelson’s wedding to a “rich Italian businessman”—evidently played by Morrone—in Italy. But, the wedding isn’t your average affair. “Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road, from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square,” the press release said.

In the first movie, Kendrick and Lively’s characters are best friends—Smothers is a single mother and vlogger, while Nelson is her polar opposite, who has a successful career, a loving family, and a glamorous lifestyle. When Nelson suddenly disappears, Smothers decides to look into her friend’s past, where she discovers a lot of secrets. The sequel will stream on Prime Video, but the release date is still unknown.
