Katherine Jenkins puts on a leggy display in a black cocktail dress as she celebrates the launch of her own 'female-forward' premium gin Cygnet

Katherine Jenkins put on a glamorous display for the launch of her own 'female- forward' premium gin named Cygnet.

The opera singer, 42, has turned her hand to a completely new business venture and is the first female founder of a celebrity gin, made just six miles down the road from where she grew up.

Celebrating the release of the spirit, Katherine threw a party at the Rosewood Hotel in London on Thursday night.

The Welsh beauty looked gorgeous as she showed off her bronzed legs in a black cocktail dress which had sheer criss-cross detailing on the sleeves and neckline.

Katherine added a boost to her height with strappy black sandals and looked ready to party as she proudly showed off the gin at the bar.

The two spirits - Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin and Cygnet 22 Gin - retail between £35 and £47.50, with Katherine's husband Andrew Levitas on board and Eric Villency, who designed products such as Peloton and Rock Star Energy drinks.

Of her new business, Katherine said: 'Cygnet combines the finest local botanicals with pure Welsh water and being surrounded by the nature and beauty of the valleys, a whole lot of 'Hwyl!' (an ecstatic feeling of inspiration unique to Wales).

'I've also included my 'secret ingredient' in Cygnet 22, Manuka Honey, which I use to take care of my voice. All of this results in an ultra-premium gin that is so smooth you can sip it on its own.'

As a female founder, Katherine added she is passionate about speaking woman to woman.

Tired of male-driven spirit products, she wanted to break the mould and create a 'Best in Glass' gin for the sisterhood of gin lovers.

While Katherine is being busy breaking into the alcohol industry, she has also been impressing fans with her show-stopping vocals.

The singer received a rapturous applause with her performance before the England vs Wales Six Nations match in Cardiff last month.

Katherine sported a Welsh rugby shirt for the event, which saw Wales lose 10-20 to their rivals at the Principality Stadium.

She wore her blonde locks in loose waves as she enjoyed singing her heart out for the large crowd.

Ahead of her star turn in the stadium, she took to Instagram to post a picture of the rugby shirt with her name on the back, writing: 'It's been a while.'

She added: 'I cannot believe it's been 20 years since I first sang at the stadium for the Welsh team.

'It was a huge moment for me back then and it played such a pivotal role in the start of my career.'

Her performance was part of the pre-match entertainment and came after the choirs from Côr Meibion Pendyrus in Tylorstown sang.

The group were joined by the Regimental Band Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh.
