Ray Winstone gushed his daughter Jaime's wedding in Sicily last year was the 'most amazing weekend' of his life as he gave an insight into the big day on Monday.

The actor, 67, proudly walked his daughter Jaime, 38, down the aisle as she married her husband James Suckling in a lavish ceremony last October and said it was 'different to the norm.'

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV daytime talk show, he revealed the big day was 'a lot of money' but it was worth every penny because they had so much fun.

The Sweeney star detailed how the reception was a lot more 'relaxed' to a normal one because they made the speeches more casual.

Ray said: 'The crazy thing about the wedding is it costs a lot of money to get married and I'd rather give them the money for like a house or something that lasts.

'But it was worth every penny, it was fantastic. You know what it was actually the most amazing weekend I've had. Her friends were fantastic and helped with lots.

'It was just the most enjoyable weekend. For the speeches we said what we fancied and got up when we wanted, we sang, we drank, it was a different type of wedding than the norm. It was very relaxed.'

The ceremony was held at La Tonnara di Scopello, previously a tuna fishery from the 13th century.

In video footage shared on Instagram at the time, Ray was seen walking arm-in-arm with his eldest child down the aisle.

Wearing a lace bridal gown with a tight fitting bodice and veil, actress Jamie looks radiant as she walks alongside her father while holding a floral bouquet.

Meanwhile Winstone, whose acting career has been forged on playing psychopaths, gangsters and thugs, looked appropriately dapper in a lilac suit and loose fitting camp collar shirt.

The actor was close to tears while leading the bride to her wedding service, watched by 250 close friends and family members.

Celebrity guests included fellow actress Sheridan Smith, presenters Nick Grimshaw and Miquita Oliver and actor Jason Connery.

It's understood that Jaime had around 12 bridesmaids in matching dresses and they danced to Together As One.

Ray is grandfather to Jaime and James' son Raymond, who was born in 2016.

Discussing his role as a grandparent, he said: It's the most wonderful feeling in the world. It's like seeing your kids grow up again.

'When I was younger, I was working and you didn't get that pleasure so much so you're living it as a grandfather now.'
