"I'm not taking anything for granted, I'm very much a new face to America," she told Daybreak. "I'm thrilled to be going through to next week.

"I don't think I'm prepared for how massive a show it is. People have come up to me in restaurants to talk about jiving, things are different now over here. I'm just loving the dancing, I'm having so much fun."

Talking about her dance experience before joining the cast, she explained: "I had classes when I was younger like tapdancing, but I have never done anything like this.

"The foxtrot in week one was not too far removed from my classes before, but this week's jive was a challenging dance."

Jenkins also dismissed claims that she has started a romantic relationship with her dance partner Mark Ballas.

"It's inevitable (the rumours), but it's complete nonsense. We've hit it off, he came to London to start training me. It's not true, he has a girlfriend and I'm not ready for any of that yet."

Katherine Jenkins has been voted the best contestant so far on Dancing with the Stars by Digital Spy readers.
