Deep Plane
By accessing the deep plane of the face and releasing the facial ligaments (or fibrous attachments), Dr. Umstattd is able to achieve natural and long lasting rejuvenated results. Incisions
Typically, incisions are placed along the natural curves of the ear and nearby hairline. After several months, most incisions are nearly imperceptible, even at close distance with your hair pulled back. Dr. Umstattd takes care to prevent distortion of the hairline and pulling of the ear to ensure a natural, beautiful result. If you’ve had a previous face or neck lift, Dr. Umstattd is able to use your same incisions to access the deeper structures of the face.
Recovery
It generally takes 2 - 3 weeks to recover from a facelift. Facial swelling peaks in the first few days after surgery and will continue to improve for several months after the procedure. Maximal improvement will be visible around 6 months following surgery.
