TLC and Kate Gosselin are reuniting.
The cable network announced on Tuesday that it has ordered a one-hour special about its former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star, set to air this June. The still-untitled project will mark the first time TLC has debuted anything Gosselin related in two years.
Gosselin has been largely off the radar during that time. The 38-year-old was once cable’s biggest draw on reality TV. A whopping 9.8 million viewers tuned in to the 2009 episode that chronicled the dissolution of her marriage to then-husband (and co-star) Jon Gosselin. A rebranding (Kate Plus 8) and a ratings decline eventually led to the show being canceled in 2011.

Her return comes as TLC has seen some struggles. 2013 saw a 20 percent ratings drop in primetime and Discovery Communications CEO David Zaslav said in December that the network “could use a steadier hand.”
The new outing will focus on Gosselin and her brood — twins now 13 and sextuplets about to turn 10 — and how their lives have changed since they last lived in front of a camera. A network description reads: “Throughout the special, Kate and the kids get us up to speed on what’s changed in the family — how the kids have grown, what their interests are now, and what the latest is on Kate’s life and career.”
The special is being billed as a one-off, but Gosselin has shown a clear interest in returning to reality TV. An awkward January appearance on Today included daughters Mady and Cady saying they thought having a camera crew around “helped” their family. And at Tuesday’s news of the special, Gosselin retweeted a fan asking for more of her old series.
