On the other bank of the Weschnitz is the impressive silo tower of the Hildebrand mill. Villa and silo tower of the HIldebrand family date from the 19th century and are great examples of the architecture of the first years of industrialization. The listed silo building and the villa were to be converted into luxury apartments after a long period of teaching, but unfortunately the project was bursting. Now the buildings are still waiting for a new use while nature is slowly reclaiming the area.

Lowermost mill of the 6 mills valley - in comparison to the following ones also visually most interesting. Unfortunately not really accessible.

The mills at Weschnitz and Grundelbach were important for the development of Weinheim into an industrial town. Around the turn of the first millennium, the Lorsch monastery recognized that the site of today's Hildebrand'schen Untere Mühle offered the best conditions for building a mill. This model of the monastery allowed 13 further mills to be built in Weinheim in the following centuries, the history of which is described by Karl Zinkgräf in "The honorable baker's and miller's guild in Weinheim". When the city was given the right to mint coins in 1065, the milling industry in Weinheim was an economic factor that was one of the reasons for this award.
