I sat down with Z Energy NZ’s CEO, Lindis Jones, to talk about Z’s decarbonisation journey for our latest instalment of Zero In. We talked about how Z has approached its decarbonisation journey and how Z is using its learnings to help customers to make their transition too. All the while Z knows it will need to run a dual supply chain for a number of decades yet in the best way it can. It’s not easy but I’ve seen first-hand how Z’s work is helping their customers’ transition to electrification, with tailored workplace EV charging infrastructure solutions and Z’s home smart charger offering as well. This is due to Z being a great partner, knowing when to seek help, and being the connector. Read more here for Z’s ambitions for the future, and its advice to other companies beginning to explore decarbonisation strategies:

We worked out the GWh demand of each individual vehicle in the country⚡ It's important we base projections and strategies around robust data rather than opinion. Our GWh based model provides a clear view of what energy demand we are likely to face and where, and from this we can then plan objectively how best to source that power and distribute it.
RECHARGE UK report sets out electrification roadmap A new report from electric vehicle (EV) trade group RECHARGE UK provides a roadmap of how the industry can accelerate chargepoint deployment to keep up with the growth of EV sales in the UK. RECHARGE UK is the EV arm of the REA (Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology) and was previously known as the REA EV Forum. The report was produced with the support of ChargeSafe, Field Dynamics, GreenFlux, Syzygy, Trojan Energy and Zap Map. RECHARGE UK’s report ‘Charging forward to 2030: Critical success factors for the deployment and operation of UK-wide inclusive EV charging infrastructure’ sets out how to accelerate the rollout of EV charging by breaking down the policy and regulatory barriers to chargepoint deployment and meet the energy demand on the grid by 2030 from public charging. "Sustainability means many things to many businesses. For the hardware and building supply industry, it’s not only an opportunity to win loyalty from customers, it’s a chance to plant seeds for future customers and future savings. Home Depot is out to produce 100% renewable energy for all its facilities. Recently, the retailer reported it is partnering with DSD Renewables to install 13 megawatts of solar power on the rooftops at 25 store locations in California. The portfolio began construction earlier this year, and upon completion is expected to generate more than 17 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually that directly power The Home Depot’s store locations within the portfolio, the equivalent of removing 2,648 gasoline-powered cars from the road each year." This summer, we unveiled our Electric Vehicle (EV) charging concept Better Energy Charge. Our overall vision in Better Energy is a 100% green electricity grid. We can contribute to this in two ways: adding new green power to the electricity grid and by giving people an incentive to use and charge their vehicles when it is greenest. By shifting consumer behaviour in the short- and long-term, Better Energy Charge can help solve issues such as energy storage and increase the probability that the energy used to power our EVs is green. It's time to rethink our transportation and get as fast as we can to a world where affordable, green energy is the backbone of our infrastructure. You could probably call that, Better Energy. #greenthegrid #EVCH #impactthatmatters
