The movie 'Her', saw Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson, two prestigious Hollywood actors, collaborate, however, their work was not easy and much of the blame was placed on the actress's orgasms.

In the film, which saw the light of day in 2013, Phoenix played a man who falls in love with his virtual assistant, Samantha, who was played by his partner. Throughout the movie, unorthodox situations arise and they even have sex, which left the 'Joker' star feeling heated.

Joaquin Phoenix needed "a break" when listening to Scarlett Johansson.

The filming of those moments were especially uncomfortable for Phoenix as Johansson pretended to have orgasms which made him have to leave the set, the actress revealed.

"We tried to make it one take and he was losing control," Johansson tells the 'Armchair Expert' podcast. "You don't ever want to hear your voice. You definitely don't want to hear what you sound like when you're having an orgasm.

"You definitely don't want to hear what you sound like faking an orgasm. Yuck. It's really gross. It was really weird."

Johansson not the first pick

Interestingly, Johansson wasn't initially cast to play Samantha, as that honor went to Samantha Morton. It wasn't until post-production when they wanted another approach and to give the character a boost, and that's when the signing of 'The Avengers' star arrived.

"When we started editing," director Spike Jonze told Vulture at the time, "Then we realized that what the character and the film needed was different from what Samantha and I had created together."

When does 'Napoleon' hit cinemas?

Phoenix's latest adventure is to pull on the costume of Napoleon Bonaparte in a historical epic about the former emperor of France who was twice-removed from his role by Europeans.

The film will be released to the US and UK markets on November 22, 2023, with Phoenix being said to perform a "robust" but "triumphing" performance according to Peter Bradshaw of 'The Guardian'.
