Kate Gosselin may be losing the title of “America‘s favorite mom.”

The now infamous mother from TLC’s reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8” once fired 40 staffers in three months, reports Us Weekly.

Baby nurse Angela Krall, who cared for the TV sextuplets as infants, told Us that the easily angered mother fired the nurses and nurses’ aides just before Krall was hired.

In 2005, the AP reported that a pre-limelight Gosselin had petitioned the state to extend payments for Krall. Krall was initially paid by Medicaid, which provides some assistance to premature babies. The AP reported, “Kate Gosselin said she feels society has a responsibility to help with the children, since modern medicine promotes the use of fertility drugs, which can lead to multiple births.”

Despite the fact that Gosselin praised Krall in the same story, Krall also said that “demanding” signs detailing rules were posted in each room, and that Gosselin once fired a woman on the spot for using the kitchen sink – and not the bathroom sink – to wash her hands. “Kate flipped,” Krall says. “She thought it was cross-contamination.”

Such behavior has also allegedly prevented a close relationship between Gosselin and her father, pastor Kenton Kreider. When his parishioners donated cribs to the growing family, Gosselin reportedly rejected them because they didn’t all match.

“Things like that caused a rift,” Krall says, adding that the children eventually ended up with matching cribs. She added that Gosselin “thought they were owed stuff. The money factor was huge.”

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Gosselin has spent 21 out of the last 30 days on the road at paid speaking engagements after news broke last week that she might leave her husband, Jon. Meanwhile, the Octodad, who has recently been in the media for allegedly philandering with another woman, has been home with the kids.

Season 5 of “Jon and Kate Plus 8” premieres on Monday, May 25 at 9 p.m. on TLC.
