You just might have missed Blake Lively's fashionable nod to Gossip Girl at the Met Gala 2022, but the actor is here to remind us all.

A co-chair for this year's Gilded Glamour event, Blake wore a custom Versace gown filled with tributes to New York City — and, as Blake just confirmed, one particular element of the NYC-inspired gown was intended to honor Blake's longtime Gossip Girl role as Serena Van der Woodsen.

Blake recently appeared in a video for Vogue that chronicled some of her most major looks to date and explained how the train of her Met Gala dress was a tribute to Serena. ICYMI, the former GG star wore a dress that literally transformed to this year's Met Ball. Initially, Blake appeared on the Met Gala carpet donning a bronze-colored dress.

She later took to the steps to reveal an underside in turquoise. The color change was supposed to represent the oxidation of the Statue of Liberty. However, that second part of the dress also featured a train with constellations intended to look like the ceiling at Grand Central Station, a location that holds a special place in Blake's heart.

"Grand Central felt like a sort of really neat full-circle moment because [in] the first shot of Gossip Girl, I'm on a train and I pull into the station, and it's a shot of Grand Central station," Blake explains int he video.

At the beginning of the video, Blake says that New York has “played a critical role in who I am." She added, “It's the love of my life, other than my family.”

Blake confirmed that it was also her idea to have the dress shift its color, saying that she wanted to "arrive in a copper dress and have that dress patina as I ascend the carpet. The Statue of Liberty obviously showed up as a shiny copper like a penny, and now it’s the green that we have, so instead of me performing, I wanted the dress to perform.”

Blake's Met Gala dream of honoring the city she loved definitely came true, and it's clear that Gossip Girl remains a central part of her life. Watch the full video below:
