On June 20th 2017, Deutsche Telekom and Gorillaz will present the world premiere of the band’s live show in 360-degrees at Palladium Cologne. The event is one of four exclusive album showcases “Telekom Electronic Beats Presents Humanz Live“ that will take place before the band’s European and North American tour in November. The shows are the highlight of an extensive collaboration between Deutsche Telekom and the world’s most successful virtual band.

Deutsche Telekom has been offering fans exciting insights into the Gorillaz world for the past three months. As a technology partner, Deutsche Telekom has offered all fans exclusive Gorillaz content on The Lenz, a free augmented reality app available for iOS and Android within the EU. Last month, the company also powered the first ever live interview with 2D and Murdoc Niccals, two virtual characters from the band that was founded by musicians Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett.

Connecting virtual and real worlds

Gorillaz first eponymous album was released in 2001 featuring virtual band members 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs . Now, Deutsche Telekom has joined them to explore new possibilities for connecting the real and virtual worlds. The first ever real-time interview with 2D and Murdoc Niccals demonstrated the telecommunications company’s commitment to innovation and leadership in the realm of technology, and provided a preview to future possibilities to digitize entertainment. Initiatives like these illustrate how Deutsche Telekom has built another unique partnership for Telekom Electronic Beats, its international music program. Its successful partnership with Gorillaz comes on the heels of other unique collaborations with music greats like Grace Jones, Depeche Mode, Dave Gahan & Soulsavers, New Order, Pet Shop Boys and Lana Del Rey.
