THE GRAND Theft Auto franchise is known for its vast array of cheat codes, and GTA:V is no different.

The blockbuster hit came out eight years ago but gamers are still having plenty of fun playing around in the vast, fictional city of Los Santos.

We've put together a list of the best GTA:V codes for those wanting to try some out.

Speaking to The Sun, U.S. YouTuber Hakiii recommended some of their favourites to try out.

"Some of the most fun cheat codes to try in GTA 5 story mode is the Skyfall cheat, Low Gravity, Super Jump, Explosive Punches and the Invincibility one," Hakiii, who has 120,000 YouTube subscribers, said.

"My favorite cheat code is the Super Jump cheat, you can jump over big objects like trucks and even some buildings!"

Raise Wanted Level

Ups your character's wanted level, meaning more cops with better weapons and equipment will hunt you down.

Your wanted level is rated on a five-star scale and at the upper end of the rating you'll have the army on your tail.

Lower Wanted Level

Brings your wanted level back down when things get a little heated.

This cheat is a good way to get yourself out of a jam while the cops are breathing down your neck.

Max Health and Armour

Maxes out your health and armour bars, repairing any damage you may have sustained in the heat of battle.

This is a handy way to get Michael, Trevor or Franklin back to full health but is not the same as rendering them invincible.

Invincibility

Good news! Bullets, fall damage, explosions and anything else you can think of no longer lower your health.

Keep in mind that this cheat only lasts five minutes before you're back to walking around like a regular ol' vincible mortal.

Recharge Special Ability

Whether it's slow-mo driving or bullet-time, GTA:V's lead characters each have their own special ability.

Using that special ability drains a blue bar in the HUD. Plugging in this cheat will replenish that bar.

Give Parachute

Sometimes you find yourself up the creek without a paddle, and others you find yourself plummeting to Earth without a parachute.

This cheat code solves that problem. At least, in GTA:V. Please don't try it in real life.

Give Weapons and Extra Ammo

This code grants you access to every weapon in the game, regardless of how far you've progressed in story mode.

It also hands you some extra ammo so you can blast away without worrying about running empty.

Skyfall (Drop from high altitude)

Before trying this one out, it's worth grabbing yourself a parachute or activating the invincibility cheat.

Once you've plugged in the Skyfall code, you'll be teleported to a high altitude before plummeting back to Earth.

Super Jump (Hold jump to leap higher)

Is it a bird, is it a plane? No! It's someone using a GTA cheat code.

Once activated, this cheat gives you an extra high and long jump so you can leap around town like some kinda super bunny.

Explosive Melee Attacks

Sometimes just punching someone isn't enough, and you need to put a little more welly into your jabs.

Enter the explosive melee attacks cheat. Your fists are now powerful sticks of dynamite. Your foes cower before you.

Bang Bang (Explosive bullets)

This code makes your bullets explosive, giving them extra damage and also making them, as scientists would say, more blowy uppy.

They're particularly effective against cars and other vehicles, and don't even get me started on what they do to cyclists.

The Buzzard Attack Helicopter is lightweight, manouvrable and deadly.

3. How to use GTA 5 cheat codes

GTA 5 cheats can be activated on consoles using codes that you mash into your controller while playing.

You can also trigger cheats by hitting up on your Xbox One or PS4 to bring up the cell phone and call a special number.

On PC, either follow the button prompts using a controller or hit up on the keyboard to bring up the cell phone and call the respective number.

Alternatively, you can tap the key to the left of the 1 (¬ on a UK keyboard or ~ in the US) and enter console commands.

Remember to enter cheats in all caps and hit enter when you're done.

The cheats only work in campaign mode offline, and will not activate when playing online to stop people from gaining an unfair advantage.

Keep in mind, once cheats are activated you won't get any trophies on PlayStation or achievements on Xbox, and you'll be limited to a bronze rating on all completed missions.
