  • Mother Ivey’s Bay is somewhat tucked away on the North Cornish coast between Newquay and Padstow. It is a very pleasant sandy beach at the bottom of steep cliffs. If it were not for the large caravan site above the beach it would be something of a hidden gem.

Besides access through the caravan site itself you are looking at a twenty minute walk along the coast path from Harlyn. As a result the beach rarely gets busy even when the caravan site is full.

The rather strange name, Mother Ivey’s Bay, comes from the legend of a local white witch who cursed a family. Prior to this it was always known as Polventon beach.
