Pepe Reina’s wife Yolanda Ruiz rushed to hospital to undergo an ‘urgent operation’
Former Liverpool goalkeeper's partner and mother of his five children suffered a bout of acute appendicitis on Saturday
NAPOLI goalkeeper Pepe Reina's wife Yolanda Ruiz was rushed to hospital to undergo an 'urgent operation' this weekend.
Ruiz - who has been married to the former Liverpool man, 34, since 2006 - was dashed to the Fatebenefratelli hospital in Naples on Saturday night.
She suffered an horrific bout of acute appendicitis and spent the rest of the weekend in hospital
Ruiz was discharged early on Monday morning and is now recovering at home.
Reina and Ruiz have five children together - three daughters and two sons - following their wedding 11 years ago.
The Spaniard was an unused substitute in Napoli's 1-1 draw at home to Juventus on Sunday evening - as he missed his first Serie A game of the season.
The game also saw home fans sell toilet rolls with Gonzalo Higuain's face on them, in protest to his controversial summer move.
Napoli are currently third, ten points behind league-leading Juve and four behind Roma as they prepare to mount a late charge in their attempt to knock the Turin giants off their perch.
Reina will next have the chance to take to the pitch on Wednesday at home to Juventus again, this time in the Coppa Italia semi-final, second-leg.
The first leg was won 3-1 by Juventus.
