FRITZ!Box Fon ata is the VoIP PBX system for 

connecting to your DSL or cable modem. Take 

advantage of Internet telephony simply by connecting 

your existing analog telephones to 

FRITZ!Box Fon ata. You do not need a computer 

to make VoIP calls. FRITZ!Box Fon ata lets you 

telephone both over the Internet and over the 

ISDN or POTS phone line. And with FRITZ!Box 

Fon ata you can continue to receive calls at your 

current telephone number. Furthermore, 

FRITZ!Box Fon ata also lets you surf the Web, 

send and receive emails and chat — from one or 

several PCs. You can connect PCs to FRITZ!Box 

Fon ata via LAN or USB port. 

Internet Telephony Without a Computer 

FRITZ!Box Fon ata makes Internet telephony as 

easy as a phone call should be. Once you have 

registered with an Internet telephony provider, 

you can use the connected phones for incoming 

and outgoing calls with all the convenience you 

are accustomed to. Moreover, FRITZ!Box Fon ata 

provides all the features of a conventional PBX 

system, including Caller ID, call forwarding and 

three-party calls. With its connection to the con-

ventional phone line, FRITZ!Box Fon ata lets you 

receive calls at your existing telephone number.

You can either let FRITZ!Box Fon ata be your 

DSL router or connect it to an existing router to 

use only its PBX capabilities. Its firewall functions 

protect the PC against unauthorized access from 

the Internet. Other network devices can also be 

connected to FRITZ!Box Fon ata if you want, 

including game consoles, access points, network 

switches, or an IP telephone. The Ethernet

Direct Access via DSL or Cable Modem 

FRITZ!Box Fon ata supports operation behind a 

DSL or cable modem and establishes a direct 

connection to the Internet. In this operating 

mode, FRITZ!Box Fon ata functions as a full-featured 

DSL or cable router. An integrated, TÜVcertified 

firewall protects all of the IP equipment 

connected to FRITZ!Box Fon ata. 

In addition, the DHCP server in FRITZ!Box Fon 

ata provides easy address assignment for the 

local network.

Connects to a Router or an Existing 

IP Network 

FRITZ!Box Fon ata can also be integrated in an 

existing LAN as an IP end system. Its IP address 

can be configured manually or obtained dynamically 

from a DHCP server. FRITZ!Box Fon ata 

uses the STUN protocol to ensure smooth telephone 

connections through a NAT firewall.

ISDN Features in VoIP 

FRITZ!Box Fon ata provides many PBX convenience 

features, including call waiting, call forwarding, 

three-party calls, and more. You can 

use these features both for fixed-line calls and 

in Internet telephony. The combination of fixedline 

and Internet telephony permits new uses, 

such as the call-through function to permit calls 

over the Internet from mobile phones. 

Furthermore, FRITZ!Box Fon ata supports the 

convenience features of modern phone lines, 

both over the fixed line and over VoIP. Features 

supported over SIP include three-party calls 

(3PTY), external call transfer (ECT), call diversion, 

and message waiting indication (MWI).
