The brand-new Box by AVM is a 

WLAN router, a VoIP and fixed-line 

PBX, and an ADSL modem in one. 

FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7170 connects 

three analog and one ISDN extensions 

to the Internet and the fixed phone line. 

And it permits phone calls, whether 

over the Internet (with Voice over IP) 

or over the fixed-line, even while the 

computer is off. All its WLAN connections 

are encrypted out of the box 

using the secure WPA standard. The 

Stick & Surf function, developed by 

AVM, makes wireless links to the FRITZ! 

Box secure with no user configuration. 

Furthermore, FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 

7170's USB host port allows you to 

connect USB accessories, such as a 

www.avm.de 

printer or hard disk drive, and to share 

it in the LAN. And like all of AVM's 

FRITZ! Box Fon products, FRITZ!Box 

Fon WLAN 7170 provides a hardware 

and software firewall, as well as 

convenience features such as separate 

overnight settings, do-not-disturb, 

and a mail message service. 

Furthermore, the WLAN switch on the 

back of the device allows the user to 

enable and disable the WLAN access 

point at the push of a button.

Internet Telephony with ISDN Convenience 

In addition to excellent voice fidelity, using ISDN terminal equipment also permits 

ISDN convenience features in Internet telephony, such as parallel calls, call waiting, 

call forwarding, caller ID, spontaneous dialing, and three-party calls. FRITZ!Box Fon 

can also store up to 10 VoIP accounts even with different providers. 

Ideal Wireless LAN Features 

FRITZ!Box is the only WLAN router to provide security out of the box with factoryactivated 

WPA encryption. Stick & Surf technology, developed by AVM, radically 

simplifies getting started in wireless surfing. As soon as the FRITZ!WLAN Stick is 

connected to the FRITZ!Box, the two devices synchronize their configuration and 

security settings, such as the network key and encryption type. 

Furthermore, the wireless LAN can be disabled by a separate overnight configuration, 

and by a switch on the back of the FRITZ!Box.
