Chelsea coach 'expected to join Frank Lampard at Derby County'

Jody Morris played alongside Lampard at Stamford Bridge and is currently in charge of the Blues' under-18 side

Chelsea under-18s coach Jody Morris is expected to join Derby County should Frank Lampard be appointed as the Rams' next manager, according to Sky Sports.

It is being reported that Derby are in "advanced" talks with Lampard, who has been a red-hot favourite since last week to fill the vacant position at Pride Park Stadium.

Lampard and Morris became friends during their playing days at Chelsea.

Chelsea have won back-to-back FA Youth Cups under Morris, while Lampard has been doing some coaching with the Blues' under-18s.

Morris, who is 39, started his career at Chelsea and made 124 league appearances.

He went on to play for Leeds United, Rotherham United, Millwall, St Johnstone and Bristol City.

Morris returned to Chelsea in the 2013-14 season, initially to help coach the under-21 squad.

He was then an assistant coach of the under-18 team and became head coach for the 2016-17 season.
