Revealed! The top European sides that produce the most players

The issue of homegrown talent is one that is being taken more and more seriously in European football, but things still need to improve in a number of countries to safeguard the development of future talent.

Hundreds of clubs around the continent pride themselves on their academies and the amount of players they have produced, but who have produced the most?

The CIES Football Observatory have investigated, and by focusing on players who have been at a side for at least three seasons between the ages of 15 and 21, have come up with a definitive list of the European top flight teams who boast the most.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Ajax top the charts with 77 current and former charges operating in across Europe’s top flight leagues at present, with Partizan Belgrade close behind with 74.

But of football’s ‘big five’ leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A), who are the best?
