SURF’s up – and so is the Citroen C4 Cactus. The quirkily designed French car have sealed a deal with cool Australian brand Rip Curl for a special surfers’ edition.
If there is nowhere near you to surf, however, do not be disheartened. This special adventurous edition is for everyone who just likes a rather unique-looking car.
The Cactus has always been popular with drivers who liked something different and the Rip Curl edition comes with lots of particular details that will appeal even more.
It is based on Citroen’s top-of-the-range Flair trim but adds even more features for the discerning Cactus driver.
For anyone who does not know it, the Cactus is Citroen’s compact family car with the unique Airbump technology on the sides – bubbles that act both as an identifying design cue and, practically, as some extra protection.
It can be personalised with different colour bodywork and Airbumps.
It has attractive graphics on the exterior and the bold roof bars which are distinctly Cactus.
The tie-up with Rip Curl includes video footage of top surfer Vincent Duvignac on his board surfing the street before jumping into his Rip Curl Cactus.

It also emphasises that the road is your “new spot” – a surfing term that indicates the best place to catch a wave.
The Cactus Rip Curl edition will add the French company’s new Grip Control technology to the C4 range for the first time.
This technology, already in some models in other parts of the French company’s stable, acts on the front wheels to give the driver extra traction on sand, snow or mud.
It means you can take this version of the Cactus pretty much anywhere, whether you opt to surf, ski or pursue any other outdoor sports.
Inside, the Rip Curl has a black leather and cloth interior and this special edition is defined with orange cues – outlining the speakers on the upgraded Arkamys sound system, on the mats and, delightfully, for the seat belts.
It also comes with the latest technology on the seven-inch colour touchscreen, which allows you to access all the entertainment systems as well as sat nav and link your phone via Bluetooth.
From the touchscreen, you can access the car’s functions, check up on information such as tyre pressure and configure and control most primary systems.

The other feature that comes as standard on the Rip Curl edition is a panoramic sunroof that lets you watch the hang gliders from the comfort of your big, comfy, sofa-like Cactus seats.
The Rip Curl edition might not make you into a surfer or even give you a yearning to be one, but it does come with a host of extra features that make it a very desirable car indeed.
