Definitions
- the present invention relates to an optoelectronic sensor for household energy consumption meters such as electricity meters and gas meters.
- an electronic component associated with the sensor delivers an electrical signal. These electrical signals can be converted into electricity or gas consumption.
- the solutions proposed so far are not satisfactory, since they involve modifications to the meters and excessive assembly times.
- the object of the present invention is to remedy the drawbacks of the above solutions.
- the invention thus relates to an optoelectronic sensor for a household energy consumption meter which comprises a rotary member whose speed of rotation is a function of consumption, this sensor being intended to be placed inside the meter to detect the passage of 'a mark of the rotary member at each turn thereof.
- the senor is housed in a support comprising means allowing it to be fixed to a part existing inside the meter, said means keeping the sensor at a fixed distance from the rotary member of the meter.
- the means for fixing the support may be constituted by a clamp capable of pinching said portion of the counter elastically.
- the support in which the sensor is housed makes it easier to handle, while protecting it.
- this support with its quick fixing means guarantees high mounting precision inside the meter.
- the conductors from the sensor are embedded in a flexible strip of insulating material sufficiently thin to be able to pass between the cover of the meter and the body thereof, without modification thereof.
- the optoelectronic sensor can be fixed in an electricity consumption meter, comprising on the front face of its cover a nameplate having a window behind which is mounted in rotation a disc bearing a mark.
- the sensor support preferably comprises a face provided with an elastic tongue able to cover the edge of the nameplate, this same face of the support having a lug which can be housed at the end of the window of the nameplate adjacent to the edge of the latter covered by the tongue of the support.
- the lug Since the lug is engaged in the window of the nameplate, the sensor support is wedged in both directions of the length of the window on the one hand by the lug abutting against the end of this window and on the other hand by the bottom of the groove defined by the tongue which is in abutment against the edge of the plate.
- the lug wedges the support in both directions of the width of the window.
- the sensor according to the invention can also be fixed in a gas meter, the body of which comprises a series of graduated wheels driven in rotation, one of them bearing a mark.
- the counter support preferably comprises a face provided with an elastic tongue capable of covering the edge of a wall extending inside the body, another face of the support having a shoulder ent intended to take pressing against a surface of the meter body to keep the sensor carried by the support at a certain constant distance from the wheel bearing a mark.
- FIG. 1 is an elevation view of a face of a first version of a sensor support for an electricity consumption meter
- FIG. 2 is a view of the opposite face of the support
- FIG. 3 is a schematic perspective view of an electric meter from which the cover has been removed
- FIG. 4 is a front elevation view showing the sensor support in position on the edge of the nameplate and facing the rotating disc
- FIG. 5 is a perspective view with cutaway, showing the attachment of the support to the nameplate
- - Figure 6 is a perspective view of the meter with its cover
- FIG. 7 is an elevational view of a sensor support intended to be fixed in a gas consumption meter
- FIG. 8 is a partial plan view of a gas meter stripped of its cover and in which the sensor holder is attached.
- an optoelectronic sensor 1 intended to be fixed in an electricity consumption meter which comprises (see FIGS. 3 to 5) a rotary disc 2 whose rotation speed is a function of consumption, the sensor 1 having to detect the passage of a reference point 3 of the rotary disc 2, at each turn of the latter.
- the sensor 1 proper comprises side by side a diode emitting infrared radiation 4 for example of gallium arsenide and a phototransistor 5 for example of silicon of the npn type, this diode 4 and this phototransistor 5 being mounted in a body of material plastic 6.
- the diode 4 emits radiation which is reflected on a reflecting surface towards the phototransistor 5 which converts the received radiation into an electrical signal. So that the reflection of the radiation emitted by the diode 4 can be done precisely towards the photo ⁇ transistor 5, the reflecting surface must be located at a very precise distance from the sensor 1.
- the reflecting surface is constituted by the rotating disc 2 which rotates at a speed proportional to the electric power consumed.
- This disc 2 has an original black mark 3 which is thus detected at each turn by the sensor 1.
- the sensor 1 is housed in a support 7, for example made of plastic, comprising means allowing its fixing. by elastic pinching to a part existing inside the counter, said means maintaining the sensor 1 at a fixed distance d (see FIG. 4) from the rotating disc 2 of the counter.
- the electricity consumption meter comprises on the front face of its cover 13 a rating plate 15 having a rectangular window 16 behind which (see FIGS. 3 and 5) is rotatably mounted the disc 2 carrying the black mark 3.
- the support 7 of the sensor 1 comprises a face 17 provided with an elastic tongue 18 extending parallel to this face 17 and which is capable of covering the edge 15a of the nameplate 15 as indicated in FIG. 5.
- This same face 18 of support 7 present a lug 19 which can be housed at the end 16a of the window 16 of the nameplate 15 adjacent to the edge 15a of the latter covered by the tongue 18 of the support 7.
- the dimensions of the lug 19 correspond to that of said end 16a of window 16 so as to be able to fit substantially without play therein.
- the bottom 20a of the groove 20 defined between the tongue 18 and the face 17 of the support 7 is located at a distance from the lug 19 substantially equal to the distance between the edge 15a of the plate and the end 16a of the window thereof.
- the lug 19 is wedged against the edge 16a of the window and the bottom 20a of the groove 20 is wedged against the edge 15a of the plate.
- the support 7 has a face 21 perpendicular to that having the tongue 18 and the lug 19.
- This face 21 has an opening 22 communicating with the housing of the sensor 1.
- the distance between the lug 19 and the face 21 is determined to maintain the sensor 1 housed behind the opening 22 at a constant and appropriate distance d from the disc 2 rotatably mounted in a plane parallel to said face 21.
- This distance d determined with precision allows the radiation emitted by the diode 4 to reflect on the disc 2 and to be received after reflection by the phototransistor 5.
- the support 7 has a face 23 opposite to said face 21 having the opening 22, from which the conductors 8, 9, 10, 11 leaving the sensor 1 exit.
- the mounting of the support 7 in the electricity consumption meter is extremely simple. It suffices to remove the cover 13 and to engage the groove 20 defined by the tongue 18 on the edge 15a of the plate opposite window 16, then push the support 7 towards this window until the lug 19 engages in the end of the window.
- the ribbon 12 comprising the conductors 8, 9, 10, 11 connected to the sensor 1 is then passed over the edge of the body 14 of the meter, then the cover 13 is fixed.
- FIG. 7 shows a sensor support 25 intended to be placed in a gas consumption meter.
- the body 27 of this counter (see FIG. 8) comprises a series of graduated wheels 28 driven in rotation. The speed of rotation of these wheels 28 is proportional to the consumption.
- the last wheel 28 carries a mark 29, for example constituted by a black adhesive strip, intended to be detected by the sensor 26.
- the support 25 of the sensor 26 comprises a face 30 provided with an elastic tongue 31 capable of covering and pinching the edge 32a of a wall 32 extending inside the body 27.
- Another face of the support 25 has a shoulder 33 intended to bear against a surface 34 of the body 27 of the counter (see FIG. 7) to maintain the sensor 26 carried by the support 25 at a certain constant distance from the wheel 28 bearing a mark 29.
- the body 27 of the counter comprises, facing the wheel 28 carrying a reference 29, a housing of substantially U-shaped section open towards said wheel and delimited by three walls 32, 35, 36 of the body.
- the support 25 of the sensor has a section adapted to the dimensions of said housing to be able to fit into the latter.
- the mounting of the support 25 in the body 27 of the gas meter is very easy and does not require any modification of said meter.
- the ribbon 37 carrying the conductors connected to the sensor 26 can be passed between the edge 38 of the body 27 of the meter and the cover (not shown) thereof.
