Abstract

A system for monitoring and controlling a plurality of electrical loads in a building includes a measuring means for measuring a characteristic of a particular load and comparing it with a stored normal load characteristic. In the event of a discrepancy, the measured characteristic is transmitted via a DC bus to a master controller and an associate database. A variety of characteristics are stored in the database, which characteristics represent various fault conditions. The measured characteristic is compared with the stored characteristics of the various faults and a fault is identified. This is then displayed to a user of the system via a terminal. In this way, the status of the plurality of loads in an entire building can be monitored.
