Abstract

A system is disclosed which monitors the consumption of utilities such as gas, LPG, oil, electricity and water, and displays this information in an easily interpretable way. Consumption of the resources is monitored and processed before being displayed on a user interface. In processing the information, threshold consumption values and maximum consumption values may be determined, and tariff details obtained. In an exemplary embodiment, consumption of gas, electricity and water are displayed simultaneously on three scales of varying colours indicative on the amount of consumption. Alerts may inform a user if thresholds are exceeded or if consumption habits change. A teaching aid employing the system facilitates education of the effects that various appliances have on consumption of utilities.
