Hilo es una exposición de Conversas em Gondwana, colectivo curatorial que retoma el nombre del supercontinente que hace unos 200 millones de años reunió a las masas continentales de lo que ahora llamamos América del Sur, África, Antártida, Australia e India. Con esa evocación geológica, proponemos el encuentro y el flujo de ideas y prácticas entre artistas, curadores e investigadores de países del Sur, reflexionando igualmente sobre las marcas de su pasado colonial.

Winner of the Funarte Visual Arts Award 2021, the exhibition Kwá yepé turusú yuriri assojaba tupinambá | This is the great return of the tupinambá cape was held at Galeria Fayga Ostrower – Funarte Brasília, between September 16th and October 17th, 2021. The show continued touring to Casa da Lenha, in Porto Seguro (BA), with support from the Superintendence of Culture of the Porto Seguro City Hall and the Federal University of Southern Bahia, where it was open from October 28 to November 27, 2021.

The artists Paola Monzillo (lives and works in Montevideo, Uruguay) and Priscilla Kennedy (lives and works in Kumasi, Ghana) were invited by curators Juliana Caffé and Juliana Gontijo to develop a collaborative work for the next exhibition of Conversas em Gondwana, which will take place at the Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo (Montevideo, Uruguay) in 2021. The invitation had as a starting point a reflection on women and their relationship with memory, history and tradition based on the collaborative work of Ana Hupe and Gabrielle Goliath, “Re-naming”, developed for the first edition of Gondwana at Centro Cultural São Paulo in 2019.

CURATING THE COLONIAL CRIME SCENE | CURANDO A CENA DO CRIME COLONIAL

Investigating the Colonial Crime Scene was the name of the interactive intervention organized by curator Kara Blackmore at Iziko South African Museum’s Ethnographic Gallery, in Cape Town, on September 12, 2017. The intervention was made to symbolically highlight the archiving of one of the museum’s collections - which was on display since its creation in the 1920´s and which exhibited the human-scale reproduction of indigenous bodies from original groups of the region.
