Paola Monzillo es una de las artistas invitadas a la segunda edición de Conversas en Gondwana, que ocurrirá en en Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo (Montevideo, Uruguay). Nacida en 1986 en la ciudad de Montevideo, Uruguay, realizó estudios de arquitectura, asistiendo simultáneamente a distintos talleres y clínicas de artistas. Empieza a exponer en el circuito local hacia el año 2009, cuando su interés por la geografía y los mapas la llevan a profundizar en su investigación en torno a sistemas de representación territorial. Ha mostrado su trabajo en el Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales - MNAV, Uruguay; en el Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellín - MAMM, Colombia; en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Lima - MAC, Perú; en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Africano Al Maaden - MACAAL, Marruecos; y en el Museo Nacional de Arabia Saudita en la ciudad de Riyadh, entre otros. Participó en la Bienal de Montevideo (2014); en la Bienal del Mercosur (2015); y en la Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo de América del Sur - BIENALSUR, (2017 / 2019). En 2014, obtuvo el segundo Premio Adquisición MEC en el 56o Premio Nacional de Artes Visuales José Gamarra y, en 2015, una beca de residencia artística en la Cité Internationale des Arts en París, en el marco del Premio Paul Cézanne de la Embajada de Francia.
Paola Monzillo is one of the artists invited to the second edition of Conversations in Gondwana, which will take place at Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo (Montevideo, Uruguay). Born in 1986 in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay, she studied architecture, simultaneously attending different artist workshops. She began to exhibit on the local circuit around 2009, when her interest in geography and maps led her to deepen her research on systems of territorial representation. She has shown her work at the National Museum of Visual Arts - MNAV, Uruguay; at the Museum of Modern Art of Medellín - MAMM, Colombia; at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Lima - MAC, Peru; at the Al Maaden Museum of African Contemporary Art - MACAAL, Morocco; and at the National Museum of Saudi Arabia in the city of Riyadh, among others. She also participated at the Montevideo Biennial (2014); at the Mercosur Biennial (2015); and at the International Biennial of Contemporary Art of South America - BIENALSUR, (2017/2019). In 2014, she obtained the second MEC Acquisition Prize at the 56th José Gamarra National Visual Arts Prize and, in 2015, an artistic residency scholarship at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, within the framework of the Paul Cézanne Prize of the French Embassy.
