FLAVOUR OF THE WEEK: Chen Fei Yu / Arthur Chen

I’m currently drowning just looking into his eyes. And whenever he shows that once in a bluemoon smile, whether its meant to be a coy, a grin, or simply the cause of his uncontrollable heart beat seeing his beloved Princess Yun.. I’m owned. I’m helplessly drowning even more deeply for Arthur Chen.  How not to fall in love with him is simply a battle I cannot win. You know, he is one of the few male character who can make me watch despite of not understanding anything about topics like computer programming. But because of him, I’m here. I’m listening, I force myself to hold on, trying to understand the hard lingo. Lol. So when a man makes me stay for physics, math & all other hard stuff.. even the powers that be can’t stop me to fall madly in love.

And for that, he deserves to be here on CK!

What I love about him is discovering what he deliberately kept hidden! He is naturally mysterious and intriguing. I love that he isn’t one dimensional and he layers his emotions so effectively, its so endearing! He owned my heart in My Best Summer. Since then, I’m completely aware of how strong his effect on me. Now in the currently airing Chinese drama Lighter and Princess, I understood quickly why I’m so into his character as Li Xun. Forgive me. This man is like fine wine, he just gets better with time. I expect only the best emotions, and the most romantic vibes from this man. So far, he hasn’t disappoint.

The layering of his emotions when Zhu Yun (Zhang Jing Yi) suddenly came close to him goes something like this — flustered, happy, eager to move even closer, put gravity on his stares, careful, gentle, won’t take advantage, slowly falling in the trap of love.

Yup, I deliberately put the “L” word there. And even though its at the bottom of his well-kept emotions at first, what’s important is that it is there! The presence is vital, without it, this OTP won’t bear fruit. We can happily rejoice because the seed has been planted early on. The “growth” period is the most exciting part. I’m here for the endless giggles and happy butterflies. I can definitely say the chemistry is over the moon! 

If you have watched a gazillion of actors doing “that look”, especially those actors who delivered this to its highest standard full of sincere heart, plus you’ve felt that inexplicable beat and that piercing thunder that directly hits you, you can easily discern and master the difference. Even if it is aesthetically perfect, without the depth of the stare and lingering gaze that send shivers to the innermost part of your heart, you will simply fall for those beautiful eyes and miss out on the “soul” that lies beneath. And that, my friends, makes this “love stare” above your average gesture that defines love that is resonated with that specific look on the eyes that a man gives. It is imperative to know and feel the difference, so you won’t be deceived by this look. I have seen and felt the best, Arthur Chen is surely on this short list of men.

Another magical point in the “Arthur Chen look” is that it shifts, from intense to soft.. and when it becomes soft, you know love has taken over him. And this is where I become soft too, how to resist it is a question I don’t want to answer. Princess Yun surely is steadfast. And since she came from another planet, she has the power to fight and not easily give in, controllably resisting Li Xun’s stare. Girl, how to be you?

We know he is already fallen deeply in love with his Princess. It’s good to note that she isn’t your average Princess tho, the type who is waiting to be swept away by the Prince Charming. Li Xun is not a Prince. I’m glad we aren’t it that fairytale. Thank goodness! And please don’t ever go that route, Show! I love that our Prince our Lighter did not easily “fall in love” with Miss Princess simply because she is pretty. Well, he is used to being chased by pretty girls, he wouldn’t easily fall for it. More than the pretty face, IMO it was her sagacious mind that caught his attention and her strong will to prove her worth. This slowly knocked his well-built intimidating wall that no one dares break, except her. She outwits him, and he loves it every single time. Her thoughts matter to him, and her delicate innocence is something he willingly protects. She is self-reliant, cunning, and fierce albeit the Princess facade, she can take care of herself. But Mr Lighter loves to be the unnecessary knight in shining armor of a not-so-damsel-in-distress kind of Princess. 

I love that the intensity of chemistry continues to ascend, and it doesn’t even fluctuate! I can only imagine the pent up emotions burning inside, how much it already consumes them, so what more if they are together AGAIN? It takes only one flame to start a fire, but here there’s TWO fires burning incessantly. I can only imagine fireworks once it is released, openly. What a beautiful sight this would be! Im waiting with bated breath and anticipation.

And Arthur Chen, I’m watching you.. and I will keep falling in love every moment.
