Introduction Yuvinka Medina
Poems by Tarik Kiswanson.

Tarik Kiswanson's sculptural and conceptual work revolves around the body, matter and perception. In particular, the physical encounter between viewer and work is at the heart of his thinking. Her interdisciplinary work encompasses sculpture, writing, performance, sound and video. It is through the dialogue between these multifaceted practices that a distinctive conceptual language emerges. Generally produced in brass or steel, which he polishes to extreme reflectivity, his works give the viewer an active role in activating and creating the pieces. Notions of uprooting, regeneration and renewal are recurrent themes in his work. Kiswanson's practice is shaped by movement, by the blurring of boundaries, by belonging nowhere and everywhere.

The exhibition at Stockholm's Bonniers Konsthall, which combines new works with a selection of older ones, focuses on the notion of levitation as a physical phenomenon and a mental experience.

The associated publication is made up of archival images, more specifically the artist's family photos, and in situ views, interwoven with poems written by Tarik Kiswanson himself and complemented by a foreword by curator Yuvinka Medina. Conceived more as an artist's book than an exhibition catalog, the book explores the notions of levitation and transparency, creating a dialogue between images and poems through superimposed effects.
