LOCATION

The Pottingers’ location is along one of Hong Kongs oldest streets giving the Hotel its name “Pottinger Street” and on the corner of “Stanley Street”. The name giver of the hotel was Hong Kongs first Governor, Sir Henry Eldred Curwen Pottinger. The Pottinger Street is more commonly known (particularly throughout older Hong Kong residents) as the “Stone Slabs Street”. Due to the unevenly use of granite stones to pave the street.

A 75m long air-raid shelter was built underneath Pottinger during World War 2 but as never been used. In the 1980s’ the tunnel was filled up because of arising concern amongst Hong Kongs Cabinet of a tunnel collapse.

The Pottinger is at the heartbeat of Central district. Central is a neighborhood overflowing with restaurants, shopping, entertainment and cultural option. Never far from the next thing to see, something to eat or drink – Central is the most historical yet modern part of Hong Kong.
