Ganesh Haloi is best known as a landscape artist portraying his lost homeland with green moisture-laden lands. Through his works he developed a sublime conversation between land, sky, air and water devoid of any human presence. Soon this realistic landscape transformed to an abstract way of depicting nature with a marked lyricism and nostalgia which made up his Mestascape series. Dots, dashes and lines became symbols for trees, water and fields, reminiscent of a lost world.
