Two Heads: Gumhead Housing Around
Two Heads is one in the series of short stop-motion videos Gumhead Housing Around by Kirsten Mosher with sound by Curran Davis. The videos feature a team of characters called Gumheads, vigorously chewed pieces of brightly colored gum, with legs drawn in black pen. Housing Around is an exploration of the details, architecture and idiosyncrasies of a series of interior spaces. At once graffiti and intervention the gumheads are a collision of the flat and three dimensional, creating characters with sticky heads and stick legs. Gumheads wiggle, press into and scamper on door frames, corners, moldings, and into the desk drawers of my house with humorous parkour style acrobatics and sneaky encounters. Their activities are of a repetitive and minimal nature synced with experimental music creating a level of abstraction that amplifies the character of the places they find themselves in, leveling the relationship between character and architectural space.
