Carnation flowers are often employed in Socratis Socratous work echoing their triple symbolism.
A sign of affluence when thrown at the local music stages known as bouzoukia, they also bear the mark of death when offered as a tribute to the deceased on their tombs while at the same time represent revolution. Works by Socratis Socratous (b. in Paphos, Cyprus, 1971) are included in the Collection of Centre Pompidou, Paris; the Belvedere Museum, Vienna; the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art; the State Collection of Cypriot Contemporary Art.
