Niklaus Stoecklin

Niklaus Stoecklin (1896 - 1982) was active/lived in Switzerland.  Niklaus Stoecklin is known for Painting.

Niklaus Stoecklin's unusual talent for drawing was recognized and encouraged early on. He began an apprenticeship as a flat painter, which he quickly abandoned to learn fine art painting from his uncle. In 1914, he exhibited his works for the first time in Basel and therefore devoted himself for decades to the creation of posters. In the years that followed, he undertook several trips in Switzerland and abroad and became friends with the collector Georg Reinhart and the artist Albert Müller. Fell into oblivion after the Second World War, the artist aroused renewed interest in the 1970s, in the wake of the rediscovery of the New Objectivity. Stoecklin is considered the main Swiss representative and co-founder of New Objectivity. His works have been presented in numerous international exhibitions devoted to the art of the 1920s.
