Reenacting History is an international exhibition that focuses on how the body and gestures
can, as an artistic medium, reveal social, historical, and cultural contexts and interest from the
1960s to today. The body is a place in the front line, where “I” form a relationship with others,
and a contact zone through which “I” encounter various situations in the world. At the same
time, it is a “storehouse of memory,” where the past is inscribed, and a “social place,” where
biopolitics function through power, capital, and knowledge. Since the 1960s, many artists
who sought to bring the realm of life into art and integrate the two favored the body as an
artistic medium, because the body is the fundamental existence of human life from the past
to the present. - Curated by Myungji Bae, MMCA

1. 구조
1원형전시실은 커다란 원형 홀을 가운데 두고 사각의 잉여 공간이 에워싼 형태이다.
전시실 출입구는 1개이지만 원형 공간에서 사각 공간을 통하는 문은 총 3개이기 때문에 길을 헤매거나 관람 집중도를 떨어뜨리지 않게 하기 위해서는 강력한 유도 동선을 필요로 한다.
작품 배치 레이아웃에 있어서 몇몇 주의를 요하는 작품과 특정 설치 매뉴얼을 소화해야하는 작품들의 위치, 감상에 할애되는 시간 등을 고려하여 집중과 분산에 따른 밸런스를 맞출 수 있도록 특히 고심하였다.
2. 재료
출품작들은 흑백일지라도 시각적 메세지가 강하고, 다소 선동적이며 시대적 감수성을 불러일으킨다.
합판과 각재를 이용하여 구조물을 제작하되 가공하지 않은 날 것의 느낌 그대로 두었다.
그럼으로써 불완전하고, 임시적이며, 가변적인 즉, 완성형이 아닌 진행형의 공간적 인상을 의도하였다.
