Ryan McLaughlin, CEO of the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (NVAR), has for the first time been named to the Swanepoel Power 200 (SP 200), described as the definitive ranking of the residential real estate industry’s executives and leaders.

This is the first time a NVAR CEO has been included on the list, and the first time an association leader from Virginia was included.

“I am honored to be recognized among the nation’s top leaders in residential real estate alongside so many of the industry’s giants,” said McLaughlin. “As the voice of residential real estate in Northern Virginia, I share this honor with NVAR’s 13,500 members who are on the front lines everyday delivering high-quality services to their clients.”

McLaughlin has been at the helm of NVAR since 2015, overseeing a 32-person staff in two locations, as well as a Realtor school and store. He was the CEO of the Greater Lehigh Valley Realtors in Bethlehem, Pa., prior to coming to Northern Virginia.

Along with McLaughlin, this year’s SP 200 list recognizes 45 newcomers, underscoring the industry’s transition from Baby Boomers to company founders to Gen X and corporate executives.

There was noticeable growth in women’s representation – from 47 to 53 – in the new ranking.
