He’s a newly minted Marvel star, but Sterling K. Brown is ready to head to another comic book universe.
Just hours after news broke that the Green Lantern Corps movie will feature the DC hero John Stewart, actor Sterling K. Brown is throwing his hat into the ring.
“Dear powers that be, if you are looking for someone to play John Stewart, I humbly submit my name. Namaste,” Brown tweeted in response to a question from a fan.

Brown was announced as part of the cast for Marvel’s Black Panther movie last week — just the latest win for the actor, who rose to greater prominence (and won an Emmy) for his acclaimed work on last year’s The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, in which he played Prosecutor Christopher Darden. He currently is starring in the NBC drama This Is Us.

The Marvel-to-DC switch wouldn’t be unprecedented. After appearing as the Marvel character Deadpool in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine for Fox, Ryan Reynolds starred in Warner Bros. and DC’s 2011 movie Green Lantern. When that didn’t go well, he pivoted back to Fox for a Deadpool solo film.
And, as several Twitter users pointed out after this story first published, there have been several direct Marvel Cinematic Universe to DC Extended Universe crossovers. Suicide Squad star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje played DC villain Killer Croc and also appeared in Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World, while Callan Mulvey was in Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and DC’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
