205 Hudson Street is pleased to announce an artist talk by Sarah Oppenheimer as part of the MFASO Fall 2016 Lecture Series. Born in Austin, Texas, Sarah Oppenheimer is a sculptor based in New York City.
Oppenheimer’s work challenges the boundaries between sculpture and architecture. She manipulates standardized spaces and disorients the viewer. By disrupting the spatial continuity, redefines the experience of the built environment.
Oppenheimer received a B.A. from Brown University and an M.F.A. from Yale University. Her work has appeared in the Andy Warhol Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Mattress Factory, the Drawing Center, White COlumns, and the Sculpture Center. She is the recipient of numerous awards including a Rome Prize Fellowship, Joan Mitchell Foundation fellowship, a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Fellowship, a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Art, and a Rema Hort Mann Foundation Fellowship. Oppenheimer joined the Yale faculty in 2003 and currently is a senior critic in painting/printmaking.
