Good enough to make the Otago Daily Times, Brazier Scaffolding can be proud of this large birdcage and support scaffold. Using Layher’s Allround modular scaffolding system, Brazier Scaffolding built a 20m wide by 30m long birdcage and support scaffold.

New roof steel work

The multi-tiered structure, measuring 20m at its highest point, was needed for repairs to a leaking atrium roof in the University of Otago’s Commerce Building. Glen Brazier commented, “the scaffold had to support the large atrium roof while it was dismantled, and the scaffold was then altered to support the new roof steel work being built in place. The carpark underneath had to be propped also to transfer the floor loadings. The project required just over 100 ton of equipment and took 3 weeks to erect. Access to the upper floors required the use of our cranes to lift the gear up onto a large loading platform on which the stillage’s were placed onto our special stillage trailers and rolled through the building to the atrium area”, said Glen. Layher’s engineers produced a workable design and assisted with leg load calculations to assist the local engineer with their verification.
