Sawyer leads Tecumseh girls to win at Cebulski Invitational

Tecumseh senior Christina Sawyer finished first Thursday at the Adrian Burt Cebulski Invitational at Heritage Park.

Christina Sawyer made it 2-for-2 this season and led the Tecumseh High School girls cross country team to a win at Monday’s Adrian Burt Cebulski Invitational.

The Tecumseh girls scored 56 points for the victory. Hudson was second (71), Adrian third (80), Bedford fourth (108) and Onsted fifth (143). Clinton finished 10th with 294 points.

Adrian took second at 81 points, finishing behind winner Coldwater (76). Erie Mason was third (102), Tecumseh fourth (113), Kalamazoo Loy Norrix fifth (140) and Bedford sixth (140). Onsted was seventh (168), Hudson ninth (214) and Clinton 12th (346).

GIRLS

Sawyer won with a time of 19:35, besting her winning time of 19:41 at the County Preview.

Also for Tecumseh, Rachel Stockford was third (21:14), Katie Selenko was seventh (22:01), Katie Weatherford was 15th (22:48) and Emily Alderman was 31st (23:59).

Mikayla Bowen led Hudson with an eighth-place finish at 22:02. Lexi Hill took 10th (22:16), Amber Czeiszperger 13th (22:34), Sydney Feekings 19th (22:55) and Mya Shirey 22nd (23:07).

Riley Zick took fourth in 21:38 for the Adrian girls. Maggie Raab placed 12th (22:19), Susan Tan 16th (22:53), Rebekah Simmons 17th (22:53) and Madeline Dempsey 34th (24:21).

Lauren Goodrow was Onsted’s top runner in sixth place at 21:51. Brianna Baxter was 18th (22:54), Alexandria Bayes 39th (22:55), Rylee Clairday 48th (25:36) and Saoirse Conley 49th (25:37).

Shianne Muessig led the Clinton girls with a 57th-place finish in 26:51. Faith Ford placed 63rd (28:43), Mykayla Fletcher 66th (28:57), Sabrie Dalton 73rd (32:12) and Kayla Jablonski 77th (34:38).

BOYS

Jack Schafer finished second in 16:30 for Adrian. Gavin Stintzi finished in 11th place (18:00), Lawrence Force 16th (18:27), Dontae Edwards 21st (18:35) and Nathan Letson 31st (19:07).

Jack Lacasse led the Tecumseh boys in seventh at 17:37. Ian Thomsen was 20th (18:35), Ray Vigo 22nd (18:37), Alex Lammers (25th) and Lance Wood 39th (19:48).

For the Onsted boys, Ivan Westgate was 10th in 17:54. Matt Doyle took 24th (18:39), Mason Burkeen 36th (19:37), Blake Klocke 48th (20:15) and Elijah McKown 50th (20:32).

Hudson’s Daniel Holder was ninth in 17:52. Josh Holder placed 34th (19:17), Drew Creger 40th (19:48), Jesse Heistan 61st (22:16) and Jacob Morgan (23:06).

Gene Dudek finished 57th in 21:22 to lead Clinton. Noah Smith was 67th (22:31), Hunter Mellinger 73th (23:41), Steven Posa (23:50) and Joseph Hayes 75th (23:58).
