Continuous learning is an excellent habit, and here at #MedRFC, we are convinced about it. Today, we had a beneficial meeting about ETCS/ERTMS system components, their functioning, and capacity improvement perspectives, led by the Mediterranean ERTMS WG leader Stefano Marcoccio. Since the beginning, Med RFC has established an ERTMS WG of experts from each Infrastructure Manager in charge of exchanging information about #ETCS national deployment strategies and encouraging consistent development along the RFC. After the meeting, participated by colleagues from Spain, France, Croatia, Hungary and Italy, we had the opportunity to visit the Milano Traffic Control Centre and to see the ERMTS/ETCS Level 2 in operation on the lines Novara – Rho,Treviglio – Brescia and Monza – Chiasso . Guided by our colleague @Giuseppe Casalicchio, we could have a very close look at the real, day-by-day utilisation of the most advanced signalling systems in one of the most crucial rail circulation control centres. The advantages of the ETCS installation are concrete, first of all, interoperability, safety and capacity gains.
